Cyclone Phailin - INCOMING... Odisha and Andhra Pradesh at Risk...

Less than 15 Hours left for the cyclone to reach the Eastern Coast.... Rain has started.

Phailin, named by Thailand is a violent cyclone originated in the low pressure area of the Andaman. The cyclone is rushing towards the eastern coast of India. States like Odisha and Andhra Pradesh are exposed to an incoming threat which is capable of damaging life and property. After the, 1999 Odisha Cyclone, Odisha have strengthened it's disaster management systems. The Odisha Government have planned a ZERO CAUSALITY DISASTER MANAGEMENT PLAN for Phailin.

More than 1 lakh people have been evacuated till now from their homes in the coastal belt, this includes thousand of fishermen and poor farmers. Government Employees are quite upset knowing about the Durga Puja Holiday suspension because of cyclone. The capital city  Bhubaneswar is terrified. People have started collecting dry foods, candles, kerosene and other daily use products that will be essential for them in case of emergency. There is a risk of large scale disruption of Electricity and Communication. People have been advised to keep their mobile phones charged for communication purpose because landline systems are anticipated to be dead because of the cyclone.

The adults seem to be terrified about this incoming catastrophe but the 1997's after generation is quite excited to witness something like this. The feeling that you get when you see the news of a cyclone coming towards your home town is inexpressible. You have watched them on TV, Discovery and NatGeo but learning that something similar is going to hit your city gives an awkward feeling. You are anxious, alert, sad, happy.
